The built in function to create a recovery drive is device specific, but you can make a bootable Windows 11 USB on any PC, that is not device specific and as well as being able to install Windows it also has a full recovery environment on the USB.

    Hello Sac151,

As the others posted, it would be best to create a Windows 11 installation USB like in the tutorial below that also includes WinRE if needed.

    Hi Sac151,

i would just like to thank you for raising your issues here at the microsoft community centre. i will try my best to help you here today, you can always respond to this at any time with any other issues you may have.

when creating a recovery drive for windows 11, its best to do this using another Windows 11 machine. creating a recovery drive from a windows 10/8/7 computer will only work on that version, as you will be making a recovery drive for the chosen operating sstem used to make the recovery drive.

what i suggest is you could try upgrading another machine you may have, depending on the hardware requirements, to windows 11, and then creating a recovery drive from there. Or, if you have a friend or family member with a windows 11 computer, to allow you some time to create the recovery drive. another thing, you could do is create a windows 11 virtual machine using another machine and use that to create the recovery drive.

alteratively, you could reinstall windows 11 onto your compatible PC using the online media creation tool for windows 11, that can be found here: Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

You Can also download windows 11 in settings: Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates

i hope i answered your question today, please feel free to respond if you have any further questions on the above topic. it was a pleasure to help you with this

    Yours Faithfully,

    Killian.
