What is the difference between Windows 11 Business and Pro ?

Dear super users,

After we bought a Lenovo desktop with Windows 11 Pro, the version of the license key state "Windows 11 Business".

I've searched this version but always end up on information pages that mention Windows 11 but not Business.

Example:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/business/compare-windows-11Is there any definitive answer somewhere on why this is showing Business instead of Pro ?

Thanks

    Hi Tamann_Inter,

This is the Microsoft banding that is confusing, you have Windows 11 pro, but they sometimes label that Business, there is no Business edition, it is like if you go into the registry and check your Windows edition, you will fin Windows 10 even though you have Windows 11 installed, their branding is full of inconsistencies.

In Winver, if you had the Home version, that can show up as Windows 11 Home, or Windows 11 Core or just Windows, but they are all Windows 11 Home.

    Hi Tamann_Inter,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

There is no actual Windows 11 edition named Business, Microsoft considers Windows 11 Pro, Pro for Workstations, Enterprise and Enterprise LTSC to be Windows for Business,

Their terminology can sometimes be confusing, but rest assured, if you have Windows 11 Pro, that is a Windows licence for Business, they also provide volume licence versions of those Business editions for large companies.

Thank you for your answer Dave,

I realize now that I might not have been clear previously.

When I'm in the Activation setting, I do see Windows 11 Business instead of Pro.

I'm sure I have a Pro version, as the device is linked into Azure and managed with all the common Pro features.

I just do not understand why winver command return "Window 11 Business" instead of "Windows 11 Pro".
