Hello!
I recently decided to try out the Maxon Cinema 4D application. As soon as the installation was completed on my X drive (no shortcuts were created on desktop strangely), I launched the program but nothing happened.
The process Cinema 4D.exe starts and ends shortly after, as I can see through the Task Manager. Windows App Event viewer does not appear to record anything at all for this application. No errors pop up, no windows. Nothing.
I contacted the Maxon Support Team and after a bit of back and forth, and after submitting them the Cinema 4D console output, they got to this conclusion:
"You do not have default Windows videocodecs installed on your system and this makes the program crash at the splashscreen, as the video cannot be played."
and
"It seems like your configuration of Windows Media foundation is broken or not working."
Their suggestions were:
- Install the latest Windows Media Player or VLC -> I already have both of them and reinstalling VLC did nothing.
- Update Graphic Drivers -> I already rolled back with their suggestion to NVIDIA Studio Driver 517.40. And back to 528.02 since it didn't help.
- Reinstall DirectX -> It seems like I can't do it since the installer detects an updated DirectX installation on my system.
This was their last message. So I tought I might ask Microsoft itself if you know what "missing videocodecs" means and how can I fix it.
I can provide as much info as I can on request.
