Thanks for reaching out! My name is, Zadee. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.
Make sure that the airpod is disconnected from other devices, John. Try to reconnect the airpods to the most recent device and make sure you completely disconnect the link between the 2. Then try to put airpods in paring mode again and see if the laptop sees it.
If that does not work. Check your laptop BT drivers, see if there was an update that you can rollback. To roll back.
-Win + R to open run box
-Type: devmgmt.msc <Enter>
-Look for "Bluetooth"
-Right-click the driver > click Properties
-Go to Driver tab
-Click "Roll back drivers" (if clickable)
If "Roll back drivers" is not clickable, click on "Uninstall device" instead then restart the computer.
If same issue still, go to your laptop manufacturer's website and then download the latest BT driver there, and install. Reboot computer again for the last time.
Hope that helps.
Best Regards,
