Wireless Display Adaptor - No option to upgrade to firmware V.2.0.8442 from V.2.0.8350

I have been using two Wireless Display adapters V2 with many of my laptops for two separate displays without any issues. Current firmware for the wireless adapters are V2.0.8442. I decided to purchase a third adaptor for our new projector monitor however it only works for one of my laptops. I tried updating the firmware of the new adaptor but the wireless display adapter app say the firmware is up to date with a version V.2.0.8350. I suspect that my other laptops can't connect to the new adapter because of the firmware. How can I update the firmware to V.2.0.8442? Is there another reason why my other laptops can't connect to my new third display adapter but can connect to my original two adapters? What is the fix?

Thanks in advance

My Windows 10 computer is all up to date (just ran all updates)

Update: There were optional firmware updates that were in the que on my computer that were not forcing installation. Once I installed those, I was able to stably connect to the WDA with firmware v2.0.8350 to upgrade to v2.0.8442. Hope this helps someone else!

Let me reiterate. I have two adapters that have updated firmware V.2.0.8442 which both work on all my laptops. However with my recently purchased adapter, the Microsoft Wireless Display adapter app states it has the most up to date firmware V.2.0.8350. I assume that can't be the most up to date firmware since my other two are running V.2.0.8442. And since I have no issues connecting my laptops with those two but having issues connecting with my recently purchased adapter. I am assuming firmware V.2.0.8350 is the issue.

So my question is how do I updated my recently purchased adapter to firmware V.2.0.8442 when the Microsoft Wireless Display adapter app states it has the most up to date firmware of V.2.0.8350?

    Thanks.

    Hi, Retina2020

According to your description, your previous two Wireless Display Adaptors will work fine on the laptop. Your Windows device should be fine.

Generally speaking, when a new device is connected to windows, Windows will download and install the available updates.

Please let me confirm. What channel did you buy your third Wireless Display Adaptor from?

If the new device was not obtained from official Microsoft channel, its firmware may have been customized. I recommend that you contact the device provider first for support.
