I am trying to do with clean install of Windows from a USB drive where I use the media creation tool. In reading through the posts, I deleted all the partitions when it asked where I wanted to install windows. Now the only two partitions left say windows can't be installed in that partition. It also doesn't allow me to create a new partition. Can anyone please help? There is nothing on the computer that I want to save I just need a clean install of Windows 10. The product key should already be stored in the computer.

The two partitions that are left are:

Drive 0 partition 1: system reserved, 50.0 MB total size, 19.0 MB free space type system

Drive 0 partition 2: 476.9 GB total size, 476.8 GB free space, type primary

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks to all who tried to help; I went into diskpart and removed the last two partitions and somehow messed up my second USB drive so I think I'm done :( Maybe I'll take it somewhere to see if someone can just do it for me. I don't want to keep buying USB drives and not sure what I'm doing to ruin them. No computer recognizes it, again :( Maybe it wasnt supposed to be in while doing the diskpart......

Now to find where to take it!!!

Thanks again to everyone who tried to help.

Hi Paul, I'm not sure if my other replies posted because I don't think I was in the correct window. Anyway if this is a duplicate I apologize. I did use the Microsoft Media Creation tool. I did check my new flash drive which I believe has an MBR partition table. The computer I'm trying to reload windows onto is EFI. I'm not sure if that's the issue or if the issue is that I deleted some of those partitions previously. I'm really frustrated and stuck 🙄

Do I need to do something to the flash drive or do I need to do something to the BIOS / UEFI?

Look forward to your response or any other assistance!

PS I ordered a new flash drive that is arriving today because I do believe I somehow messed up the other one. I can reload the media tool and have it ready I'm just not sure how to boot into the USB drive again and what to do about the partitions.

Paul, there is nothing on this computer that I need to save. I just need a fresh install of windows. Attached is what the disc part looks like. Are you saying I should delete disk 0 and disk 1?

    This is the BOOT screen.

Does this help? I'm afraid to take any further steps until I hear back. I really appreciate your help It's just frustrating to not be able to proceed in real time 🤦🏼‍♀️

    Thanks again!

Were all of the important files backed up to another disk drive or the cloud?

In the posts there were partitions that remained.

How come the system reserved partition and data partitions were not deleted?

Please click on each partition to highlight them.

Then click on delete. (Again make sure that you have backed up all important files before deletion)

This will create an unallocated disk drive (no partitions).

Then during the clean install allow the bootable Media Creation Tool (MCT) to create the default partition architecture.

With the current BIOS settings the disk drive will be MBR.

If you want the disk drive to be GPT then check the BIOS to see if UEFI is available.

If UEFI is available then change the BIOS to UEFI and then boot to the MCT and perform the clean install.
