Norton 360 scans run slow

One user complained that it took two hours to scan a million items.

BOY! I wish I had his problem!

For my computer to scan a million items, it takes ELEVEN HOURS! Most of the time, I can't even get to the scan options and have to try two or three times. It started giving me fits in early November.

I only scan the two main drives, C and D, and have cleared out all of the temporary files and put my documents and other files into thumb drives. I scan the two drives on separate days, but it's still taking too long. When I first got Norton, it only took about six hours to scan the whole computer,

I've tried ALL of the fixes without result and the only solution I can come up with is to scan small groups of folders every day, but that is garbage. I shouldn't have to pay for garbage.

Norton USED to be a good system; I've used it for years. My system is Windows 10.

PS: What happened to "Smart Scan"? It just disappeared one day. Was it just a temporary "try before you buy" thing?

    I did contact support and he took over my computer and did "something". As I said, SEEMED to be running faster, but it wasn't. I can't even schedule a scan, I set it up, but it never comes on.

    I'm just going to do an "on demand" scan on the file folders from now on.

    Looks like I spoke too soon. I based the run time on an hour and a half of scanning. It SEEMED to be running faster, but it still took over eleven hours to finish.

    I've been patient for over a month and gave it every chance. People with just as much on their computer and even more have reported scans that don't run as long.

    Dear Nicole;

    Thank you for replying and for providing me with the link. I don't know what they did, but I did a "before and after" comparison test and it seems to be running at least 60% faster, which is acceptable in my opinion.

    Thanks again.

    Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

    I will try my best to assist you with this so that you find a satisfactory solution.

    Is the issue only affects the scanning time of Norton and doesn't affect the performance of the system overall?

    If yes, you may need to verify this from Norton support. You can use this link to get in touch with their support.
