Specific Server Connectivity Issue on newly built PC

Hello,

Even though my PC gets a great internet connection, it has issues connecting to the Genshin Impact server when I play. I get low ping (27-50 ms) until an hour or two into playing (sometimes sooner) and then suddenly my ping is hitting 500+

When I run the network adapter troubleshooter, I have to go through the prompt to clarify the Genshin Impact American server address and lately I get one of two answers:

  • "website (47.252.29.148) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts
  • The remote computer isn't responding to connections on port 80, possibly due to firewall or security policy settings, or because it might be temporarily unavailable. Windows couldn't find any problems with the firewall on your computer"

or

  • "your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (47.252.29.148) is not responding"

I've checked proxy settings and made sure it was off, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Genshin, network adapter drivers, I've flushed DNS, and I'm at my wits end. I've been having this issue for over two weeks and every time I seem to have found a solution, I log in the next day and the same problem arises once again.

My laptop has absolutely no issue connecting to the server but my custom built PC desktop has been a pain in my butt with its only issue being its inability to connect to that specific server.

My specs are below:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070

RAM: .TEAMGROUP Inc 32 gb

Motherboard: GIGABYTE x570s AERO G ATX am4

Storage: PCIe SSD 2 tb

Is there any secret setting I've missed where I can manually tell my computer to allow connection to the sever, have I missed any drivers, or do I just need to take this PC into the shop to see if it's a hardware issue?

Thanks

I've actually tried both of those to no avail.

Even allowing the server ip address through inbound rules in windows defender.

I'll probably have to get a tech person over to my place to truly figure out what's wrong.

EDIT: Just got off the phone with my ISP, my router is currently trying to pull out more internet than what my plan allows and is therefore throttling my connection. They're sending a technician to check and switch out the router tomorrow so hopefully it'll be solved.

Thanks again for trying to help, though on a different note, is there a way to make sure my PC isn't trying to pull out more internet than my router allows?

    My pleasure.

You can try to test by turning off the Firewall on the Desktop computer.

You can also configure Genshin Impact to be allowed through the firewall by following the steps on this link.

After that, test the game if you can still have high ping on it.

Hi, thanks for responding so quickly. After posting my message, I hopped back onto the game and had no high ping issues. After logging off, I saw your message. I figured I'd wait to respond to see if my luck was a fluke or if the problem was persisting and alas, it is. Logged on today and almost immediate high ping.

Yes, both my IPv4 and IPv6 are set to obtain automatically.

I just logged onto the game from my laptop and so far have ping in 20-50 ms range so this further leads me to believe it's more of a hardware/firewall issue on my desktop.

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

Is the issue only affecting the specific game?

Mostly, high ping on a specific game only is caused by the connection from your device to the servers of the game.

First, make sure that the IPV4 Ip address is obtained automatically. Click the Windows logo then type control panel. Next, click View network status and tasks. Next, click your connection to open its status. Next, click properties. Next, double-click IPV4 to open its properties. Next, on its properties, make sure that both Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically are toggled then click ok. After that, try to launch the game.

You can also try to reset the internet modem that you have by turning it off and then turning it on again after a minute to refresh the ISP IP address.

    Update me on this issue.

    Thank you.
