How so I change my skin on minecraft java edition (pc)

So I have a Microsoft account and I just bought minecraft deluxe on PC I'm on Java edition but I can't find out how to change my skin I'm using the same Microsoft account that I use on my phone if that changes anything but all it let's me do is take of left and right sleeve take off pants on left and right leg take of cape ect. And it won't even show me my current skin I just bought the game (I'm on windows 10 and I'm using the 7/8 launcher because the 10/11 one has an error if that helps at all?)
