Files going missing on trying to open from SSD external hard drive between two computers

I have an external hard drive that I use at work and home as a common data storage. I have been using external 3.5" mechanical drives raid mirrored for many years without a problem. I have now changed to SSD drives in a different enclosure still using Raid mirrored. The drive was set up on my work PC. If I carry out work at home and save to the drive, when I get to work the next day, the data/file is showing. When I try to open it, the file fails to open and then disappears. I can't then see the file at work or home. It has gone. I have never had this issue with the mechanical drives. It doesn't seem to happen if I disable TRIM. It started again last week but then I find reFS is an option enabled. Is TRIM the problem? .

Hi Ian,

My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

This may be caused by hibernation or fast startup turned on when you disconnect your drive without proper ejecting. So, you need either to eject drive properly or disable fact startup on both PCs and not use hibernation.

May be some settings are different. Please compare Policy tab in drives' properties in the Device manager. May be different cache size has the influence.

Thank you Igor. Why does this happen with SSD and not with my 3.5" mechanical drives?
