I have a new pc build with rtx 4080, i7 13 Gen, 32 gb of ram.

My problem started after i changed my in-game compatibility of Valhalla for it to run on Win 10 (i have win 11)…then all of a sudden game crashed, and my whole screen resolution went from 2k resolution to 1024x768. Display is stretched out and native resolution shows only two options.

I checked the display settings and now it only shows ‘Wired Display’ instead of my monitor name. Only shows two resolutions 1024 and 800 …i thought perhaps it was a faulty dp cable so i bought a new one, but the same problem persists.

Thing is everything is working fine with hdmi cable.

Ive tried reinstalling nvidia drivers, windows restore, updating everything but nothing is working.

Kindly help if you know what I’m facing.

Thank You.

    I actually went and installed OSD Sidekick (Gigabyte Monitors) and updated its firmware through there and using the manufacturer’s website to download the latest .bin file.

    After updating the firmware of the monitor,

    IT FINALLY WORKED

    I CAN NOW USE MY DISPLAY PORT.

    The fact that your monitor is only showing two low resolutions (1024x768 and 800x600) and that the HDMI connection is working fine is indicative of a problem with the DisplayPort connection.

    Here are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Check the monitor settings: Make sure that your monitor is set to the correct input source. You can do this by using the on-screen display (OSD) menu on your monitor.
    2. Update your GPU drivers: Make sure that you have the latest graphics card drivers installed. Updating the drivers may fix compatibility issues.
    3. Check the DisplayPort cable: Make sure that the cable is securely plugged in to the computer and the monitor. Make sure the cable is not damaged and if possible try a different DisplayPort cable.
    4. Check the DisplayPort port on your graphics card: Make sure that the port is not damaged and that there is no dust or debris blocking the connection.
    5. Check the game setting: Make sure that the game you are trying to run is not set to use a resolution or refresh rate that your monitor doesn't support.
    6. Check the windows scaling settings. Go to settings> system > display > scale and layout
    7. Check the bios settings: Check your bios settings for any graphics configuration settings, or if there is any option to use specific ports.

    If none of these steps work, you may want to consider contacting the manufacturer of your computer or graphics card for further assistance. It could be a hardware issue with the GPU or the monitor.

    Hello (Dogtooth),welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that the resolution is too low on the newly created PC;

    What exactly is the model and manufacturer of the motherboard?

    Did you check if you connected the HDMI cable to the video card instead of connecting to the motherboard's HDMI output?

    Do a clean install of the NVIDIA drivers;

    Download and Run Driver Package for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 > https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.a...

    Follow the onscreen instructions until you get the Installation Options window;

    Select the Custom (Advanced) box and press Next;

    On the next screen, you will be able to choose the components to install (all should be checked by default and if you're not sure, leave them that way);

    In the Select driver component table, check the Perform a clean installation box and click Next;

    Do a clean boot;

    Press the keys: Ctrl+Shift+Esc to access the task manager;

    Click Startup and disable all programs that start with Windows;

    Try changing the resolution in the NVIDIA Panel;

    Right-click on the desktop and go to NVIDIA Control Panel;

    Click Change Resolution;

    Change the refresh rate to the highest available;

    Then try to change the resolution of the PC;

    Check if the resolution is ok now;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!

    Thank you for replying.

    At first i thought that the dp cable might be faulty, so i bought a new one but the problem still persists.

    Ive tried all the above and except for the bios setting. What exactly do I need to do?
