using netplwiz I created a second iteration of an identical user and now can't delete it

Windows 11, all updates installed, no other problems

Only one user name shows up in Settings> accounts (as an admin)--I have checked under the "other user" tab

When I go to log in as windows boots, two idnetical login options are visible and I get the error "password not recognized".

I can then click on the other login and enter a pin (or type my password and login with the first).

This is a minor issue, but annoying.

Is there a good way of getting rid of the duplicaiton (I would prefer not to elete the account as I have only just gotten all the settings and personalisations back the way I like them after a windows reinstall)?

Thanks,

Glenn

Hi GlennOdom,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Open Netplwiz again, there is a check-box to require a password login, set that to its opposite setting and provide your login details

Restart your PC, then go back in to Netplwiz and set that password setting back to its original setting, that should remove the second 'ghost' account.
