Can I run Cloud Connect on one server and AD Connect Agent on another just to enable hybrid exchange functionality

After an upgrade from 2012 to 2019 the AD Sync was broken so I uninstalled the Azure AD Connect agent and instead used Azure AD Connect Cloud Sync.

As I have a hybrid exchange environment can I install the AD Connect Agent on another DC and just enable the Exchange hybrid functionality and keep my Cloud Connect Sync?

Or is it a choice between one or the other?

If so I will have to go back to the AD Connect agent until we have moved our on prem Exchange 2016 to the cloud entirely?

    Hello @pk_oz ,

    Thanks for reaching out.

AAD Connect and Azure AD Cloud Sync can coexist in the same environment, however the scope of the synchronizations must be adjusted. For an example: AAD Connect synchronizes a set of OUs, while Azure AD Cloud Sync synchronizes a different set of OUs which make sure there's no overlap.

Because Exchange Hybrid is only supported by AAD Connect, objects synced via Azure AD Cloud Sync cannot be utilized for Exchange Hybrid. Here's a feature comparison, and here's an article about coexistence. Hope this helps.
