I recently upgraded my gpu, however whenever i have the gpu plugged into my pc then all of the usb and display ports stop working , even though my fans and led still work.

When I dont have the gpu plugged into my pc then all of the usb and display ports work.

If you have any support/help on this then please help me since i have been trying to fix this problem for several days.

    I think you should...

Now, I can't anticipate a giant price explosion on GPUs in 3 months, but I don't think it will get worse in 8 months... At least not enough to make it worth possibly holding on to a broken card. After all, you can't verify that it works, y'know? It is very likely that it works just fine, but I wouldn't take the risk.

I think the motherboard is initialised though because the cpu connected to it has its fans spinning.

I dont have another system to try it in sadly :(

I did try another gpu what didnt require a 6 pin connector and everything worked btw.

    So no keyboard/mouse/whatever connected...

That sounds like your PC doesn't even get to initialize it's MB when you plug in your new GPU.

The problem is that we can't check if the GPU works right now, and returning it after months could be annoying to explain... Do you have another system to try it in?

    Hi,thanks for the reply.

It doesnt matter where i put any cable as the ports do not work when the gpu is in the pc anyway.

My psu is definetly good enough to handle it, it is a Evga 750w bq.

I have also thought of the possibility that it could be my old cpu/motherboard however Im not really sure, However i am planning to upgrade the cpu and motherboard in August.

    Hi,

Make sure you're plugging your Monitor into the GPU, and not into the onboard video to get video.

Do you get an image at all out of the PC?

If not, turn on the PC with the GPU in it and check the cap lock/num lock works on your keyboard? That should tell us if your PC actually POSTs.

If it doesn't, there is some severe hardware problem.

Have you checked that your PSU can handle the load?

Also, your 2nd gen CPU is very old at this point, and therefore your MB is probably too. It is possible that the Motherboard/CPU simply doesn't know how to handle the relatively new GPU.

The configuration in general probably isn't the best choice, since the GPU is very likely being severely bottle-necked by the CPU.

    Sincerely,

    LightJack
