Hi. I'm Brian and I will do my best to help you.

Defender is included in Windows 10. If you install another antivirus, that new AV will probably disable Defender because you can't use two AV programs simultaneously if both have an automatic scan feature.

I've had BitDefender installed on my W-10 PCfor years.  I am also a Microsoft 365 subscriber.  As such, Microsoft notified me that Defender will be automatically added during some future routine update.  It will show up in the Start Menu but I would need to sign in to activate.  Something tells me I shouldn't do that and hope that doesn't mess up m BitDefender.

I have been using Bitdefender on 4 computers for over 2 years, it is very configurable and does not cause issues on old hardware.

It is not a good option to have 2 antivirus programs running simultaneously, as that can cause issues, but there is an option in defender to run periodic scans.

    Microsoft says here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/getting-started-with-microsoft-defender-9df0cb0f-4866-4433-9cbc-f83e5cf77693

"Microsoft Defender works alongside your existing antimalware solutions, even if they're made by other companies such as Norton or Bitdefender."

Defender does not yet appear on my PC but Microsoft says it's coming. BitDefender was here first. Do I just ignore the prompt to activate Defender when it shows up with a future routine update? (It will come free since I am a Microsoft 365 subscriber.)
