PasswordLess folder missing from Regedit

Hello.

My computer is no longer accepting my pin. When I sign in with my username and password - it takes me right back to the pin screen. I also CAN NOT change my pin. I get the following error. Status: 0x80090011, substatus: 0x0

I followed all the steps below - but I don't have the PasswordLess folder. Is there any other way I can gain access to my laptop.

I also tried all of the following - none of them worked. After re-starting, I am right back to the screen asking me for my pin.

  • Uninstall Updates
  • System Restore
  • Reset this PC (Keep my files & Remove Everything_

Thanks Greg, I went through all the steps, and I still can't get in.

My Microsoft sign-on is not letting me into the computer - so some of these steps I couldn't even try.

I use my sign-on instead of my pin, and it makes me verify my account by sending a code to my e-mail. Once I enter the code, it takes me right back to the pin screen.

I just tried my last resort and tried to re-set to wipe clean and re-install windows. And that still didn't work.

I tried to follow the steps, but I can't seem to find the option that pertains to my situation. (WinRE Repair)

As far as the clean re-install.

I can only gain any kind of access by using the shift + restart option. I can't do anything with the normal log in screen, because of the pin error. And it won't allow me to log in with my password.

    I did the following steps:

    Troubleshoot

    Reset this PC.

Keep my files (which didn't work) - took me right back to the pin login screen.

    and then I did:

    Remove Everything

Cloud Download (I got an error - unable to download. Please try Reset this PC using the local reinstall option)

    Did Local reinstall option.

Just remove my files (which didn't work) - took me right back to the pin login screen.

    and then I did:

    Fully Clean the drive

runs through the set up - I chose to reset once that is finished.

After a few minutes, it goes right back to the main blue screen where I originally chose to troubleshoot.

Did you try all of the steps I gave from WinRE Repair Mode or bootable media? If they don't work from WinRE then you'll have to go to another PC to create the bootable media which is the only method that doesn't require a password and works better than WinRE. If nothing else works you can always try the last resort Clean Install. If you're trying and that is failing then tell me exactly how it fails and I will help you get past any hurdles. I am the author of that Clean Install tutorial used by millions and it will always work if the hardware isn't failing, and I can help test for that if it's indicated.

Hello Cyn. I'm Greg, here to help you with this.

When you Reset saving your files it also saves the same account that's somehow locked you out. If it comes to doing an automated Reset or superior Clean Install, I will show you how to rescue your files first so you can save nothing and set up the account again.

Once you try all of the repairs I'll give first, or see if you can get into Safe Mode, once you are able to sign in with your password you could reset the NGC folder to heal the password issue: https://www.droidwin.com/pin-not-working-in-win.... However it may not be able to sign into your account because it's corrupted and needs replacement. So I'll also give fixes and possible replacement of/for the account.

I will show you how to use the built-in WinRE Repair Mode or bootable media to do all possible repairs for Windows 11, leading up to if necessary creating a new Admin account, doing a Reset or gold standard Clean Install:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

At any time you can use the WinRE or bootable media Command Prompt to rescue your files as shown here:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back, I will have other suggestions if necessary.

It looks like none of the WinRE Repair Mode fixes are working, so you'll need to create the bootable media to try to see if they will work with it, or to do the Clean Install which can only be done from bootable media.

Look over this gold standard Clean Install which includes everything that works best in Windows and is better than any amount of money can buy: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

The reason I suggest this is that no one of millions who have followed exactly this specific install has ever come back with further problems that I've seen.

The only reason a Clean Install from bootable media will not work is if the hardware is failing. If there are any other indications of that then I can help you test the hardware with bootable tools. But you need to try the repairs and/or Clean Install first with the bootable media which always works when WinRE doesn't.
