Solved! I right-clicked Powershell and chose Run As Adminstrator
How to achieve "elevation" to administrator in Windows 11 home edition
I just bought a new Windows 11 PC, home edition.
I've opened a CMD prompt and typed:
wsl --install
in order to install Windows Subsystem for Linux, but got the message "The requested operation requires elevation". I'm not a Windows guy, so how do I get elevated? There is no administrator but me. Thanks
ps. I bought the PC specifically to run WSL

To achieve elevation to administrator in Windows 11 home edition, follow these steps:
Click on the Windows icon on the taskbar or press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start menu.
Type "Command Prompt" in the search box.
Right-click on "Command Prompt" in the search results and select "Run as administrator".
Click "Yes" when prompted to allow the app to make changes to your device.
In the elevated Command Prompt window, type the command you want to execute (in this case, "wsl --install").
Press Enter to execute the command.
This should allow you to install Windows Subsystem for Linux.
Regards.
