How do i make a fat32 bootsble usb??

Trying to reformat my windows 11 computer, cause i don’t have any other way of resetting the password, and the file size is too big to go onto a fat32 usb

Ok, fine, I’ll format the drive to a different s system, and yay, file downloaded

Except now it wont boot from the usb. Research shows it needs to be fat32 to be bootable???

I don’t have a cd drive to boot from, and i don’t want to spend money on a second copy of an operating system i already have

Solutions?

The max file size that a fat32 disk accepts for a single file is 4gb. The file for the boot disk that i get from the media creation tool is over that and thus gets rejected.

That's not what you're supposed to do.

You are not supposed to put a single iso file on the FAT32 drive.

This is how it works: You run the MCT and choose "USB flash drive".

    None of those suggestions work.

The max file size that a fat32 disk accepts for a single file is 4gb. The file for the boot disk that i get from the media creation tool is over that and thus gets rejected. My disk drive has more than enough space, showing as having 57 gb free. I also tried the command prompt directions. Same issue occurs.

I can reformat the drive to nfts and the files will download but then my computer refuses to boot from the usb

In case you need to know what the Media Creation Tool is. it is the download tool where you also get the possibility to download and store as bootable on a USB stick. Use a 8GB or bigger but be aware that the whole stick will be formatted, means take an empty one.

    Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)

Thank you for your suggestion, I have got a suggestion that this may be too complicated than using Media Creation Tool to make a new bootable driver and you won't have to pay for the license again. The tool will format your usb drive to FAT 32.

Let me know how it goes
