Windows 11 - Pause/skip/previous songs commands via keyboard

Hi all!

I just bought a new Windows 11 laptop and I was wondering if there were a way to control music through keyboard.

I tried PowerToys but it only works when I am on the app. Is there a way I can control music playing in the background (e.g., skip/next/previous songs) with keyboard shortcuts?

I am thinking of something like the buttons⏯️⏮️⏭️ on Macbooks.

Thanks!!!

Hello! My name is Mustafa, and I am an Independent Advisor as well as a long-time Microsoft user. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I am hopeful that I will be able to help you find a satisfactory solution.

You have not mentioned what kind of device you use, does your device come with Pause/skip/previous in your f command line?

If it doesn't come with it, there is no key customization that you can do that can work as well as the one that comes with it. You can use third-party apps like the one that you have mentioned but each of them has a different kind of problem.

Your best chance is to get an external keyboard that comes with these commands in the f row. Or search for more third-party apps that don't have as many problems. But in my experience, I wanted to use a mouse with custom commands and couldn't find a third-party app that worked really nicely, so I just swapped the mouse with another one that comes with an app.

Please let me know if this doesn't work or if you need further assistance.

    Warm Regards,

    Mustafa
