I have been trying to update windows with the update being: "Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022834)"

Here is a list of the following things I have tried but failed:

  • Ran the troubleshooter
  • Ran the command: "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" along with all the other DISM commands
  • Tried manually installing the update (when it finished Downloading it said the update can't install
  • Used the Tweaking.com windows repair tool (free version)

The only thing I was unable to do was rename the catroot2 folder and no matter what I cannot do it. I was able to stop the wuauserv, bits and trustedinstaller services but I couldn't stop the cryptsvc service so I had to terminate it using this guide here: https://tipst3r.wordpress.com/tag/cryptsvc-wont-stop/

but even after doing that I still couldn't rename the catroot2 folder and I'm really lost now. My only option would be to reset my pc but I have too much things that I want to keep and I can't put it on a 64gb flash drive so If there is no way to fix this does anyone know a service that can copy a whole drive?

I will be eternally grateful if anyone knows a fix for this!

The build version is: 21H2 (OS Build 19044.2006)

I hope this is the right file: Registry key.zip

May I know the exact version/build of your device? You can check that by running WINVER.EXE.

Also, export this registry key, zip it, and upload it to OneDrive.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing

Ok here is the link to the files: 2 Items

I will still try the other option that you have listed just in case it still doesn't work

Please upload your CBS logs. Here's how to collect them:

    1. Open the folder "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS"
    2. Select all files, shift + right-click on the selection, click Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder.
    3. Click Yes when you see the following prompt:

Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here.

Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?

    1. Upload the zip file to your OneDrive/Dropbox and share the link here.

    Additionally, upload "c:\windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log"

    --or--

Upgrade to Windows 10 22H2 by using the ISO/MCT. Your apps/data/settings will be preserved by default during the upgrade.

    • Download the 22H2 ISO using Rufus or Media Creation Tool.
    • Double-click the ISO to mount it to a drive letter.
    • Run Setup.exe and complete the upgrade process.
