I have an laptop that had windows 10 pre installed on it with some customized software that was installed by the manufacturer that made my laptop 💻. It’s an HP 17-X037CL & I don’t want to clean installation because of some stuff might not work properly. My laptop 💻 had factory customized stuff & settings that windows 10 clean install doesn’t have. I prefer doing factory installation because it restores the stuff that the factory had installed on it. I know from the every where I read that people have been using creation media from Microsoft but, I don’t want to because of my laptop 💻 had factory installed stuff & app that made it work properly $ I know that windows 10 clean installation doesn’t have any stuff other than windows 10 files & bare bone light weight version. But I don’t want to use the clean installation. I want to use the original factory pre installed windows 10 installation because I have 4 DVD’s 📀 that was created by me using the recovery software from manufacturer of my laptop. Any suggestions or steps would greatly help me out with this situation so I know what I’m doing

    Nice progress.

    You're welcome.

Consider making free backup images and saving the images to another disk drive or the cloud.

A backup image can typically be restored in less than one hour.

    Backup images are useful for:

    a) Problems related to Windows updates / upgrades

    b) Corruption of the operating system

    c) Corruption of the registry

    d) Corruption of the component store

    e) Corruption of the drive file system

    f) Malware

    g) Ransomware

    h) Failure to boot

    i) Unexpected drive failure

    etc.

(Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon, etc.)

When I bought my laptop 💻 it had no DVD’s 📀 with it to restore the laptop so I had to make some myself using the HP recovery tool that was pre installed & it made 4 DVD’s 📀 but now since I got an new SSD I was wanting to know how to get the factory stuff back like it was when I bought it for the first time. I have seen several people use clean install versions but I don’t want to go that route because my laptop 💻 wasn’t made for that. I will provide some information ℹ️ on wether I run into problems with the setup process here in this post.

When laptops are sold by HP they come with an OEM Windows 10 operating system.

Once the operating system is updated licensing data is entered into Microsoft servers.

Once licensing data is entered into Microsoft servers this enables clean installs or disk drive replacements.

At any time you can perform a factory reinstallation with cd/dvd or flash drives.

When factory installs are performed all files on the computer are removed so it is important to backup files.

It is always best to make free backup images before making major changes so that if there are any unexpected problems an image can be restored.

    (Acronis, Aoemi, EaseUS, Macrium, Paragon,etc.)

There will be DVDs with the operating system and DVD with drivers and applications.

After the installation download and install the HP driver and support assistant: https://support.hp.com/us-en/help/hp-support-assistant

Use the HP support assistant to update the drivers and BIOS.

    Install applications as needed.

    Other applications to install:

    HP UEFI hardware diagnostics: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp143501-144000/sp143798.exe

    HP Windows hardware diagnostics: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp144501-145000/sp144583.exe

In my closet somewhere I've got the original HP DVDs but no longer use them.

Insert the first DVD to load the operating system.

Then insert the driver /application DVDs.

If you encounter problems then take pictures and post images or share links into this thread.

I was doing an upgrade to my laptop 💻 by replacing the HDD with an SSD & I wanted to use the same stuff as the HDD had but I couldn’t get anything backups or cloned because of the HDD having so many problems. All I was asking for is:

How do I reinstall factory windows 10 in SSD like the factory had done because I can’t use clone because I don’t want issues with the SSD if I have cloned HDD to SSD. I want to reinstall the factory windows 10 like I used it for the first time after I bought it from the store
