I use phone link on my pc to connect to my phone because I can't always reach my phone but still want to use it.

but since the last update I need to unlock my phone before I can use it.

so, I can't use it anymore. what use is a phone link when you need your phone to use it?

is there a way to turn that off?

btw, I'm talking about phone screen, just to clarify.

J

When you try to access your phone via Phone Link on the PC and the lock screen on your phone has activated, you get the popup pasted below. Means you have to go find your phone and manually remove the lock screen before you can access the phone via Phone Link on your PC. Kind of, actually, totally defeats the purpose of Phone Link to access your phone.

Hi JuliusRK, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

I believe there's no option in the desktop app that causes this behavior. Can you verify if the problem happens instantly when you lock the phone? What message or error do you get in the app when this problem occurs?

Reply to JuliusRK: If you can revise the title of your post to be something like, "Connect to phone from PC without having to use the phone to remove the lock screen", it might be easier for a search-engine to zero in on the issue we're having.

You can make sure Windows is up-to-date along with the Store apps. You can also make sure your phone is up-to-date along with the system apps of which if you have Samsung for instance than many of those are updated from the Samsung app store.

If you have all of that done then on the phone, someone has seen that returning to an older version of that app removes this screen. Not a great way to go but if its that annoying then it might be worth the other possible problems. Just know you shouldn't ask or say anything any further about Phone Link unless you update to the latest version again. This can be done from Android Settings and then you'd have to disable auto app updates and avoid updating it.

If there's something else that can be done it may be unknown at this time. There's not enough info present from people.

Mind you that there may be other apps that do this. You might find another that you trust.
