i7/7700k CPU in win 11..

I have been reading comments on how "incompatible" supposed to be and I`m still waiting for "issues" to crop up since I installed Win 11 over 10 back in October 2021..

I build my P.C`s will never purchase what I can build my way and I use win 11 both home and Pro dualboot on 5 year old with unsupported i7/7700k all other requirements met p.c. plus new build which has all basic requirements and installed win 11 pro..

Maybe I am fortunate or techs here going by a "script" full of hogwash ?? as they are aware most people don`t know much about computers if at all..

Again,, Still waiting for "Issues" to crop up.. No more to be said..

    Hi Anthony,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I understand how you feel, it looks as if you are already using Windows 11 on a device with an i7-7700k CPU.

Again, this has been preceded by a large amount of user feedback and suggestions regarding the Intel 7th generation processors and subsequently Microsoft has looked at compatibility and end user experience with different configurations and the crash rate is still over 11%.

Microsoft has released a registry bypass entry for ignoring TPM and CPU eligibility requirements on computers where Windows 11 is not supported.

However, Microsoft does not recommend using registry bypass methods to install or upgrade to Windows 11 on unsupported computers.

If you have any problems with subsequent use, please do not hesitate to reply with it here and I will do my best to help you.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

lol my lapop that us compatible defcrashes alot more than it did on ten and im going down to a i5 6500 cuz i dont care about win 11 , when you stop supporting 10 pro i go to ubuntu maybe by then you will figure out the legacy support, cuz the core chips from a decade ago can still game, stop colluding with intel to screw ppl.... the ryzen 3 budget chips are all compatible with 11 but the cheap intel ones arent... u can still buy a i5 6500 brand new at micro center ppl still build brand new builds with them its so stupid that its not supported, 11% is nothing.. so ur saying i can do a win 11 install on my i5 6500 and it will work just crash maybe? like all builds and setups dont?

    Hi Anthony,

We're sorry you're disappointed with some of the hardware requirements for Windows 11, but we're glad you're interested in Windows 11.

To run Windows 11, the CPU needs to have hardware virtualisation in order to enable virtual security mode for virtualisation-based security, and they will now be turned on by default for all computers, not just specifically selected devices.

Simply turning on the existing hardware-based security reduces malware infections by 60%, but compatibility and performance issues mean that only a few PCs come with them by default.

While 7th generation CPUs have hardware features,8th generation processors have also included feature upgrades to improve HVCI performance etc. Older processors have to rely on slower, lower power restricted user mode emulation, which is one of the reasons for the CPU requirements in Windows 11.

It's not that we're trying to make things difficult for those with unsupported configurations. Our goal is to say that let's be very clear about where the best experience is, and where Microsoft recommends you actually go to get a good experience.

The breadth of the PC ecosystem allows for a wide range of devices. We're open enough to allow people to really do what they want to do. At the same time, we need to be clear and say this is our intent, and the two things are not mutually exclusive.

    Your Sincerely

i think it has to do with the speed of the bandwidth between the cache ram ssd and what not like my ryzen 3 3250 has more l2 cache ... i dont get how the core i chips can be pushed out of service when they still have so much useble life, the planned obsolescence **** is insane , as of rn my step dad has a quad core i7 from like 2010 that he still plays games on ... he bought one of the first 10gb gpus they made and it doesnt play the newest games perfectly but they play and hes a happy 65 year old... who doesnt wanna have to spend 3 grand ever 3 years... as soo as people could build killer pcs for 700 bucks these corporate oligarchs were terrified we wouldnt have to buy somthing new every 3 years... ill be so happy to get off gaming on a budget laptop full time maybe my laptop wil last longer than 3 year this time , and maybe i can get some stead performance im not expecting blazing frame rates, same as the ryzen 3 just more steady is what im expecting, and belive it or not that laptop played gta v at 50 fps in 720p, the i5 6500 and rx 550 is supposed to do 40-60 on extreme settings for gta v

so u think i can get 11 woeking fin on my i5 6500 im going back to that cuz my ryzen 3 laptop which is newer and single core faster and has alot more l2 cache and alot of better features...is still a alptop and a 7 year old i5 6500 and 4gb rx 550 will murder it in gaming framerates.... and its a start i can keep the gpu andbuild a ryzen system next year and already have a gpu and ram and ssd... but i will go with win 10 pro for now... and when they dont support that prob ubuntu , but if i keep seeing ppl say win 11 works anyway on the 6th and 7th gen chips which are still sold way overpriced in oem machines....this is such a great example of big tech using the government regulatory loopholes built into the system by the politicians for their buddies, goes for dems and republicans...
