Restoring Windows Defender Firewall to default

I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy Book 2 Pro 360. I was online looking for tips and tricks online. A lot of them recommended getting rid of McAfee Security because of the bloatware, as well as, the nagging pop ups every time you looked around. I followed there directions and uninstalled McAfee Security. It already had Windows Defender on it and I am not a person who goes rogue in looking on bizarre sites I figured it would be alright to just stick with the Defender I had on the laptop. Once I uninstalled the McAfee the Windows Security symbol in the taskbar was green - meaning everything was working properly. Today I get on my laptop. I have to go through different steps to link my Samsung phone to my laptop and a yellow warning on the security symbol stating actions recommended.

I go to Windows Security to try to figure out what needs to be looked at and it was my firewall. It stated I should restore my firewall to default settings but some of the apps I have installed may not work properly afterward. Should I be concerned??? I do not want to mess things up if I don't have to. So if anyone has any explanations I would greatly appreciate it.

It's safe to reset the Windows Firewall. If you want, you can backup your existing rules by exporting them via WF.msc user interface.

After resetting the Windows Firewall, your apps will ask permission to access the internet, like the one below.

You can click Allow access for each app to add the entry to the firewall rules.

If you need to configure advanced settings (e.g..., TCP/UDP port settings), you can do that manually by running WF.msc.

Thanks for reaching out. My name is, Zadee. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be glad to help you today.

That was likely due to your phone getting connected to the computer. It might have asked to turn the firewall off to properly work with the computer and smoothly transfer data between. Yes, I suggest turning the firewall back on. Nothing to worry about, if there's ever an app that would ask permission to get whitelisted in the firewall, you can just simply add that in the future. If you ever need to do that, you can allow that app through the firewall.
