How do I get windows to recognise my fingerprint scanner?

My Samsung Galaxy Book 2's fingerprint scanner is not recognised at all by Windows. I checked, and it does not show up on device manager either. When I attempt to set up a fingerprint on settings, it simply gives me the message "We couldn't find a fingerprint scanner compatible with Windows Hello Fingerprint (I am unable to upload screenshots however). I have done extensive research on the particular model of laptop that I have, and it does indeed have a fingerprint scanner, as well as the fact that it is visibly present on the power button. I thought it might be a problem with the windows 11 update, so I downgraded to windows 10 to see if it would fix the issue, but nothing changed. I installed the latest Windows updates, I checked on device manager, I attempted everything I found online on Microsoft support, but nothing seems to be working. I also contacted Samsung support, but they suggested that the root of the issue is with a Windows update, so I'm not sure how to fix it now.

    Hi Emile_4477,

My name is Cindy. I am sorry you are having this problem. I know it is really frustrating. I will do my best to help you with this problem.

Please note: This is a user-to-user community forum. We are users just like you who help others. We are not employees of Microsoft.

The drivers become corrupted and are no longer working properly. Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver will usually fix this problem.

    1. Please type the words Device Manager into the search and open the page.
    2. Scroll down the page and click on Biometric Devices
    3. Right-click on the fingerprint driver (file) and uninstall it.
    4. Restart the computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers.
    5. Check to see if the problem has been fixed.

If you do not see the Biometric Devices folder or the fingerprint driver on your Device Manager, this means it is no longer on your computer. Samsung is responsible to make drivers for their computers so it will work with Windows. It is free of charge to download them from their website.

Please let me know if this does not work.

    Sincerely,

    Cindy
