USB maas storage flash drives are not considered reliable backup media by the tool you are using. If you have used USB hard drive instead it would have worked without complaining.
Now you may create a directory on USB flash drive & share the directory as network location. In backup option choose network location & point to the directory.
Another method is using some third party backup and restore software. There are many freeware as well paid version available online you can try. I cannot recommend name as that is against the rules of forum.

Hi, I recently purchased a USB mass storage device, to use as a recovery drive, but I tried to create a system image backup, but I get the error "This drive is not a valid backup location" I already reformatted it with NTFS, but it still doesn't seem to work.

2023-02-05T03:19:35+00:00 Use same username and password that you use in your current windows log in, actually those are not important here as you can access the folder on the computer without restriction it is created. User account is important in case the folder is accessed from some other computer on the same network.
