Sudden drop in fps while gaming

So I play this game called VALORANT on my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop which is about more than a year old and for a few weeks I am experiencing sudden frame drops while playing. It runs fine for a few moments and then again I experience the frame drops. I tried turning off my background processes like discord and it works fine then but with any background process running I experience the same issue. Usually I get around 180-200 fps but when I experience drop it comes down to 90 or lower. I have run the ram test and also checked my cpu usage while playing and it looked normal. It will be very helpful if someone has any solution for this. Thank you.

Pc specification:

Ryzen 7 4800H

16GB Ram (3200MHz)

GTX 1650Ti

Windows for home | Windows 11 | Performance and system failures

I am also a cs-go player, my laptop also starts dropping frames if I play for 3-4 hours, and it goes back to normal after it cools down. Your device having hardware from 3 years ago may be the reason for it to drop frames. Maybe there was an update to the game recently that made it become a game that will doesn't support nicely.

Can you put your device in a cooler room, or near a fan to see if the same issue starts happening at a later time?

If you have all the latest versions of software than there is a big chance it is a hardware issue.

Let me know how it goes.

I mostly play fps games like valorant and cs-go and I used to get pretty good fps in the games but recently this problem appeared.

And yes I have the latest version of everything and I am getting issue for a few days only.

Hello! My name is Mustafa, and I am an Independent Advisor as well as a long-time Microsoft user. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I am hopeful that I will be able to help you find a satisfactory solution.

I am also a gamer like you are, and most of the time the drop-in frames come in because the laptop gets hot. Hp is a big brand where I live, and the pavilion gaming laptops are known for their heat problems. As you may notice this issue may not happen in the first few minutes of you playing the game but it starts to go down after some time of playing.

If you play some lighter games then you can see that the frames start dropping much later or may not even drop, because it doesn't overheat your device.

I would recommend you use a fan to make your laptop run cooler. Or make physical modifications to your device to make it run cooler.

Also what game do you play? and did this issue happen before? and can you make sure that you have the latest version of everything on your device?

Please let me know if this doesn't work or if you need further assistance.

    Warm Regards,

    Mustafa
