My mouse will not work in Windows 10.

As stated in the title, my mouse does not work.

There is no cursor, no nothing. I have tried updating the driver, I have tried uninstalling the driver. I have just about tried everything to try and get the mouse to work.

Is there something I'm missing? Keyboard works fine and so does every other USB device. I have tried using a different mouse. One day it was fine, then the next nothing!

This is massively inconvenient. It would seem a bit silly to have to reinstall windows just to get the mouse working again, but that is looking like the only option right now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Benedict,

I am Mario and I am a independent advisor, and I would like to help you.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps that you can try to get your mouse working again:

1- Check the physical connection: Make sure that the mouse is properly plugged into the computer's USB port. Try unplugging and re-plugging the mouse into different USB ports to see if that helps.

2- Check the mouse settings: Go to the Settings app and click on Devices > Mouse. Make sure that the mouse is recognized and that its settings are configured correctly.

3- Try a system restore: If the issue started happening recently, try using System Restore to roll back your computer to a previous state where the mouse was working properly.

4- Check for hardware issues: Sometimes the issue can be due to a faulty USB port or a defective mouse. Try connecting the mouse to another computer to see if it works. You can also try using a different USB port or a different cable to connect the mouse to your computer.

5- Check for conflicts with other devices: Sometimes other USB devices or software can interfere with the mouse driver. Try disconnecting all other USB devices and disabling any unnecessary software to see if that helps.

6- Check for malware: Malware can sometimes interfere with the mouse driver. Use a trusted antivirus software to scan your computer for any malicious software and remove it if found.

7- Reset Windows: If all else fails, you can try resetting Windows to its default settings. This will remove all your personal files and installed applications, so make sure to back up your data before proceeding. To reset Windows, go to the Settings app > Update & Security > Recovery, and click on "Get started" under "Reset this PC".

8-Perform a clean boot: Sometimes third-party software can interfere with the mouse driver. Try performing a clean boot to see if that resolves the issue.

If none of these steps work, you may need to consider reinstalling Windows.

Hope this can help you solving the issue.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Best regards,

    Mário

Not sure I know what you mean by PC makers support site, but I have tried to reinstall the drivers with no luck. I can see that the drivers have been reinstalled, but no luck!

You update drivers from the PC makers support site.

When it stops working check Device manager for any warning marks
