I have downloaded this thing called bluescreen simulator, and windows security has flagged it, and is saying that "Detected" is "Joke:Win32/ScreenMate". What does "Joke:Win32/ScreenMate" mean? and is it an issue?

A Joke Program usually does not cause damage to the system. They are programs created to cause temporary problems to the operating system, such as crashes or unexpected behavior changes.

But there were cases of programs of this type that damaged the system unintentionally.

I believe that some may even install something malicious. Because usually, the user will add it to the list of exceptions of the antivirus. But that's because I'm cautious in this matter.

Particularly, I would not install or run such a program on one of my computers.

What is a "Joke program" though, as it popped up with this: does this mean it isn't harmful, as I did download it myself knowing that it makes it seem as if your PC has blue screened, is this information relevant, and does it mean that the program actually isn't harmful?

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

See the article below for more information about this threat.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/threats/ma...

It's not much. But I think it's really relevant.

I suggest not installing or running this app again.

As Windows Security blocked it in time, I don't think there are any threats on your computer. But it's a good idea to do a full scan, just in case.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

Don't worry, what happens is that windows detects that app as something dangerous or doesn't recommend you to use that app, it detects it as a prank app anyway (you know it's a prank right?) and what windows detected (Joke:Win32/ScreenMate) is the same app you downloaded, but don't worry, the same thing happened to me.
