My airpods pro automatically connects to my windows laptop even if it's already connected to my iPhone, when I turn my laptop on.

My airpods pro automatically connects to my windows laptop whenever I turn my laptop on. Even though my airpods pro are connected to iPhone or any other device, every time I turn my laptop on it connects to it. I have to keep my laptop's bluetooth off in order to prevent this as I am already listening or watching something on my iPhone and as soon as my windows laptop turns on it connects to my airpods pro. Why does it happen ?

I am using windows 11 version 22H2, OS Build is 22621.1265. It's not just about OS build number or version, its been happening forever.

Hello, I'm Felipe and I'm an independent Community Advisor, and I'll do my best to help you.

This is a common issue with Bluetooth devices, where they automatically connect to the last device they were paired with, even if there is another device that has priority. To prevent your AirPods Pro from automatically connecting to your Windows laptop, you can try the following steps:

Open the Settings app on your Windows laptop.

Click on "Devices" and then click on "Bluetooth & other devices".

Find your AirPods Pro in the list of paired devices and click on "Remove device".

Confirm that you want to remove the device.

Pair your AirPods Pro with your iPhone again.

After following these steps, your AirPods Pro should only connect to your iPhone and not your Windows laptop. If you need to use your AirPods Pro with your laptop again, you can pair them again by going to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices and clicking on "Add Bluetooth or other device".

I just checked mine even using Windows 10 and it ask permission to connect.

Do you know what version of Bluetooth you are using or do you know the model number of your Wi-Fi adapter?

There may be some configuration left over from an earlier install. Have you removed the AirPods and re-paired them?

I see some sites that are supposed to explain how to get it to connect automatically but my settings are already set that way and they do not connect automatically. I cannot find another setting which would change what you are seeing.

On my Desktop, the AirPods Pro 2 are paired but will not connect unless I select that. If yours connect automatically there should be a setting to prevent that. I do have the AirPods Pro version also, so I will try those on another system and get back if I find something.

I assume the Air Pods Pro are already paired? If they are not, you can turn off automatic pairing when in paring mode.
