Windows 11 Dell laptop is stuck at "Please wait" upon booting up after installing latest Windows updates.

I installed the latest Windows 11 updates on my Dell laptop last night upon shutting down the laptop before going to bed. I got up this morning and went to work with the laptop. When I turned the laptop on it just hangs at "Please wait" indefinitely and never gets past that point. I tried shutting it down and turning it back on again, but it just sticks at "Please wait" forever and never gets to the Windows logon.

Is there something wrong with the latest Windows 11 updates?

    Yeah, I had forced it to shut down after about 30 minutes and it still stuck at the "Please wait" screen after booting it back up. I then forced it to shut down again and this time I unplugged all USB peripherals from the laptop and I was finally able to get into the OS. I plugged all my USB peripherals back and everything is still working.

    There could be an issue with a peripheral, or maybe a driver got updated last night that is conflicting with a peripheral. I'm going to look through the event logs to see if there are any clues as to what happened. I'm hoping that it doesn't lock up every time I boot up with all the peripherals plugged in. If it does, I may restore the system setting to a previous date and wait for additional, more recent updates.

    At least there's a workaround.

    Hello Forrest, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that you are unable to boot Windows after an update;

    Try accessing Automatic Repair;

    Turn on the PC and when the manufacturer's logo appears keep the power button pressed to force shutdown;

    Repeat this process 3 times, the next time you turn on the PC it will go to the automatic repair screen;

    Within automatic repair try the following;

    Advanced options > Troubleshooting > Advanced options > System restore;

    Select a date prior to this update and click Next;

    Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the restore;

    If the restoration completed successfully, check if you can access the system now;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!

    Nothing wrong on win11 Dell & Lenovo systems here.

    Hold The Pwr btn to force a shutdown

    If when you then start the issue remains

    See Dell support as to how to run boot diagnostics

    Dear Forrest,in this case, probably one of the USB peripherals was preventing Windows from starting;

    But I'm glad the problem was fixed;

    Any problems you may have in the future do not hesitate to post here in the community;

    Thanks see you soon!

    Maybe it was just a glitch. After I unplugged all the USB peripherals and plugged them back in I haven't had any more issues. It's really weird. That's the first time my laptop ever hung up like that on the "Please wait" screen for over 30 minutes, even after a reboot.

    Well, it seems to be cleared up now. Thanks, everyone for your help.
