Autorun iso

Hi

I've several retro games in iso files, but when I open those iso files, they open as a directory, without any option of autorun, which is pretty annoying.

Is it possible to enable autorun for these iso files? There is an autorun.inf file in the iso, but it doesn't seem to work, also tried to change the autoplay settings in control panel, without any results.

Regards

    Hi Sidney,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

In general, Windows does not support Autorun.inf files, because that was the most common way that viruses spread from PC to PC on CD's, DBD's and USB flash drives, so they disabled it by default.

    You can try enabling AutoPlay.

Open the old Control Panel, then at the top of the old Control Panel, set View to icons

Then open the AutoPlay Settings and set your preference for Removable drives, that may or may not work with ISO's

In the new Settings App, there are more settings if you go to Bluetooth & Devices - AutoPlay.

    Hi Sidney,

Sorry, I was offline, they removed that functionality in Windows 10 and 11, it existed up to Windows 7.

    That's to bad.

But this functionality is still within windows? or is it totally removed?

    Hi Sidney,

If those Autopay settings are not working with an ISO then there is no way to get an ISO to autoplay, they blocked that for security reasons and because the ISO needs to be mounted on a virtual drive first and that is a File Explorer process and that will open the File Explorer folder the ISO was mounted in.

    Hi

Thank you for the quick reply,

I see, is there a possibility to enable it again?

Since it will only be used to play retro games.

And all the autoplay settings didn't do anything for me, tried them for a hour now.

    Regards
