Thanks for your reply. There is no 'Input Options' in left column, i tried search but no result.
Remove PIN sign-in has no option to remove!
Hello there,
I see this has been covered before, but after spending hours trying to get into my Windows 11 laptop, only to get 'your pin is not available'. My backup option of mobile phone not an option, sods law that my backup email account was not available due to outage. That backup option is now available, I simply want to get rid of pin option I cannot afford to lose time and I don't trust it not to happen again (happened sporadically over the past week). Remove option is greyed out. There must be an option somewhere to disable it? I use this for work, but I work mostly from home, I don't need this forceful password PIN system. I have a newly released laptop, the webcam sign in not available, the fingerprint is an option but I just don't trust it to not go wrong. Just keep it simple is all I need, a typed old-school password would suffice. Not a pin that needs Microsoft to verify and lock me out constantly.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
James

2023-02-01T22:00:15+00:00 Hello, how are you?
I understand that you would like to remove your Windows entry PIN.
Try disabling the PIN requirement option and then check if the remove button is enabled, as directed below.
- Press Windows+I to open the Configure window;
- Select the option Accounts;
- Select in the left column the option "Input Options";
- In the window on the right, scroll down to the option "Require Windows Hello Sign In for Microsoft Accounts" and set the button to "Disabled";
- Go up to the option "Windows Hello PIN", click "Remove", and confirm once more;
- Enter your Microsoft account password in the next window and confirm.

2023-02-02T01:44:04+00:00 The PIN requirement option is next to the PIN removal option, but if you don't find it, you can also remove the PIN, excluding the folder where it is stored.
The Ngc folder is saved in the Windows folder and is where the PIN information is stored.
First, follow the path below:
C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft
Locate the Ngc folder and delete it, after that restart the computer and try to reconfigure the Windows Hello input methods.
If you can't remove the folder because of permissions, run the command below.
- Press Windows+X and select Windows PowerShell(Admins);
- Paste the command below and press Enter:
powershell -windowstyle hidden -command "Start-Process cmd -ArgumentList '/s,/c,takeown /f C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC /r /d y & icacls C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\NGC /grant administrators:F /t & RD /S /Q C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc & MD C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc & icacls C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Ngc /T /Q /C /RESET' -Verb runAs"
- Restart the computer and try to reconfigure the Windows Hello input methods.

2023-02-18T23:58:54+00:00 Hello Paloma,
Sorry for the delay in replying to you, thanks for your guidance. I initially thought it might be too technical, but after tonight the pin seemed to go funny once again, I looked again at your guide and was able to delete NGC via the powershell section. It forced me to add the pin again, but this time I could remove option. And now I am using a password option, so hopefully that won't go weird on me lol. No idea why the pin was an issue, had the same on my windows 10 laptop, so it could be a windows 11 bug. Thanks again :-)
Kind Regards,
James
