Why does windows 11 update so often?

Every time the upgrade it requires a reboot. It is very irritating and disrupts my working. Not to mention loss of productivity. Is there a way to disable windows updates or pause updates more than a week (like a month)? I will take responsibility for security issues.

Instead of changing icon location with every Windows upgrade, it will serve MSFT customers better if they fix this issue and make it more enterprise friendly.

Hi dm, I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

I can understand your sentiment - updates keep the device secure and increase reliability. To prevent disruption of work, Microsoft allows you to set active hours. In AH, Windows does not reboot automatically without your permissions. It can be set for maximum of 18 hours.

Re:Enterprise - you have a lot of options if you use Pro/Enterpruise editions. You can configure a GPO so that updates do not download without your permission, let alone install and reboot.

If you have Pro or Enterprise, let me know so that I can guide you.

Hope that helps, and rely on us for any further inquiries. All the best.
