My screen goes black for a couple seconds then turns back on then back too black while gaming or opening apps

When I restart my computer and the first thing I do is open a game, it works seemlessly for the entire time I decide too play, then for instance I will open up another game and suddenly my screen turns black for 2 seconds then it shows the game/app for a second, repeating every 4 seconds ish. I can't seem too fix the issue, I've tried rolling back drivers, uninstalled driver and re download & install it, I've done this from the site and from my GeForce Experience. Ive tried opening up my computer and making sure the connections are fine aswell as my monitor cables. I'm using a DP connection too my monitor, not sure if thats an issue. Most of the time my monitor is fine but it seems once I'm done with my first game I have too restart my computer and choose what game I'm going too play next. I've tried many things too fix this, including fixes from others with the same issue, but others seem too have sorted it through their display drivers, which I can't seem too do. I'm at a loss and am now being forced too ask for help here, thank you.

I spent around 2 hours doing everything you told me, following all the instructions, the games performed fine under all the parameters, so I guess this is a Windows 11 problem? The instructions were complicated but I'm very confident I did what was asked, I couldn't find a problem in either half of my programs so there wasn't any need too wittle it down until I found it, it just wasn't there.

I've just performed a normal boot and my games right now are fine but they wont be in around 20 mins, it seems my system can't change game once I've been in one for a little while. I wasn't confident that a start up program would be the issue as the issue doesn't actually accure until I change game shortly after playing one.

I'm willing too completely reset my computer if its guaranteed too solve the issue, if that is a thing, thanks

I'm still experiencing the problem, althought the rest of last night it performed fine. As soon as the problem started after I started a game this morning I check the Display Adapters log and it says its working fine. It's very strange that sometimes I can play any game and I have full performance and screen clarity but other times I can't even start games without a black screen problem. It seems anytime I move the mouse in game or press the menu button, it goes black, sometimes if I stand still in game the image re-appears until I move the mouse / camera or press a button.

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

This behavior is probably caused by the graphics driver. The driver may be crashing.

Before reinstalling the Nvidia driver, did you use the free DDU tool to remove the previous driver?

This ensures a clean installation of the driver and may fix some issues.

If you didn't use DDU, use it to remove the current driver, download the latest driver from the Nvidia website and reinstall it.

    DDU: https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dr...

    Nvidia driver download: https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

Feel free to ask back any questions.

I uninstalled via this cimputer, not by using any tool. But I am still having a problem, I cannot see a UK download on the list of downloads at the bottom of the download page, any attempt at searching for a DDU UK link doesnt yeild any results.

I did download a DDU from this website, it auto downloaded and I opened it but the package contains only the uninstaller (DDU v18.0.6.0) and a folder (Guru3D.com) containing only (downloaded_from_www.guru3d.com) which is a system info file.

I'm hesistant too download anything other than the UK link and from the guides online the package that was downloaded, especially the folder, should contain more files.

If this is okay I will go ahead with the uninstaller.

I completed all the steps, turning off my internet too start. I followed everything and booted up State of Decay 2 and once again the issue appeared, I noticed that while on the main menu there was no black screen appearing, but when I moved my mouse or clicked continue game, the screen went black. I can still hear the game running. When I tab out or ctrl alt delete, I can briefly see the game image flash before it displays the menu. This is very odd and I cant seem too get rid of it. I have followed a detailed guide with all instructions on youtube.

Note - the odd thing is that if I restart my computer and immediately play the game of my choice it runs fine

    Thanks for the help
