How do I find the windows 11 product key on my new Dell XPS 8950 desktop? I would like to reinstall the OS on a second larger SSD card and make it the primary drive.

    Hi CainPDX2,

    I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    if Dell pre-installed Windows on your new laptop, that licence is stored on a chip on the motherboard (OEM digital licence) and you will not need your product key when you re-install Windows 11, it will activate automatically.

    During the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 11 on this PC', and activation will not be an issue.

    If you do want to find your product key, download the free ShowkeyPlus app from the Microsoft Store, that will find the OEM product key.
