So recently my headphones (Hyperx Cloud 2) didn't work anymore there was this static noise so i send them to the company where i got them from to repair them and they said they could not repair them so i got my money back and i got a new pair of Hyperx cloud 2s but now they show up as speakers not as a headset or as before ( i am not sure how they showed up i didn't really pay a lot of attention to it) as High definition audio device i also ordered a different headset (not only because of this reason but it did play its part in it) and the different headset (razer blackshark v2) also has the same problem i don't know how to fix this i tried to browse the internet but i havent came across something that helped :(

    Hi Ramon,

I'm Rodrigo and I will help you.

    Is the Headphone working correctly?

When you connect an audio output device to the 3,5mm jack, Windows does not detect what you connected, it doesn't know if you connected a headphone, earphone, speaker, audio receiver, etc. It shows the speaker as a generic device, and this is not an issue.

You can rename it the way you want and change the icon, right-click the volume icon on the taskbar > Sounds > Playback tab > Double-click the audio device > In this window you can rename the device and change the icon to another one you want.

Hello! My name is Mustafa, and I am an Independent Advisor as well as a long-time Microsoft user. I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue, and I am hopeful that I will be able to help you find a satisfactory solution.

I would recommend you check for updates for your drivers.

Go to the device manager and check for audio drivers and update them.

Also if you have another point to connect your headphones I would recommend you connect and see how it shows up.

As I can see your headphones are all wired headphones so can you check them with your phone and on another laptop and see how it shows up?

Can you also check a wireless headphone with your device and see how it shows up?

Please let me know if this doesn't work or if you need further assistance.

    Warm Regards,

    Mustafa

Hello, there has been a lot of this issue coming up after the recent update. So I would recommend going back to the previous version to fix this issue. Many others are also reporting the same issue but the only fix, for now, seems to be going back to the previous version.

    Kind regards

    Mustafa
