Seriously, what is the no nonsense solution of why the Zune does not connect in Windows 11? What is the difference and how is it fixed?

I have a Zune, as a lot of others still do and it should not be a hassle to connect a USB Microsoft product and have it be recognized. It seems almost intentional at this point as it worked perfectly all the way up through Win 10.

Lets skip all the way through all of the assumption that people do not know how to restart it, clean ports, set power policies, install software, etc. All of that is done. The Zune software is fine and current. The player seems to refuse to connect for most people. What is the issue with USB in Windows 11 and/or drivers?

Whoever answers this would be a legend, instead of the canned "did you try powering it off and on again" answer.

The specific issue is when the Zune (120GB) is plugged in, it makes Win 11 make the USB connect and disconnect sound repeatedly, but never actually registers in the Zune software or show up in the Explorer folders. Reddit threads are long and distinguished with everyone's input, with little if any success.

Thanks.

I understand the Zune and what it is. I have 2. A 120GB Gears of War Zune and a 16GB Zune HD and I even have the full docking station for the TV. The software and music management on the PC side is fine.

THE ISSUE IS the Zune device itself...which is just a USB connection, is not recognized by Windows 11 and will connect and disconnect repeatedly and has never been an issue prior to that. My question is how how/why is it being disabled? I want to sync my music, but it seems like nothing but an intentional attempt to stop people from using it when Windows and the Zune software were the requirements to do so. It also does not work with any compatibility attempts.

I appreciate at least getting a response, but it's not an answer or solution at this point. I am positive I am not the only one to ask in the community.

I noticed that there are videos on youtube on how to make a Zune compatible with Win 11. I'm still on 10 so I don't need that yet.

Hi, I’m Nicole, I’ll be happy to help you out today.

The Zune is a portable media player developed and sold by Microsoft. It was released in 2006 and discontinued in 2011. Windows 11 is the latest version of the Windows operating system, released in October 2021.

It is likely that the Zune software is not compatible with Windows 11, Microsoft has not released any updates for the Zune software in several years and it is unlikely that they will in the future.

You could use other alternatives such as Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player, or any other third-party software that can play music and videos.

You can also verify this from a Microsoft agent. You can use the get help app in Windows 11 or one of these links to create a support ticket.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/supportrequ...

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/home/contac...

There are multiple apps that currently have issues with compatibility with Windows 11. If the issue will be verified as incompatibility, you may need to post feedback for this using the feedback hub of Windows so Microsoft developers can see it and review it. Access the feedback hub app by pressing the Windows key and f at the same time.

    Thank you.
