Hi everyone,
My laptop is running Windows 11 22H2. For some reason I don't see explorer in task manager. I tried restarting but it didn't work.
There is a registery key named SeparateProcess in
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
but its value is 0. Should this be 1?

Just found out, that Hidden reg key is for files though not for the explorer.exe process in the task manager, exactly why it didn't do anything.
Found the right setting to show that in task manager though, -Open file explorer -3 dots > Options -View tab -Look for "Launch folder windows in a separate process" > Tick or Check
-Ok
That should do it.
Thanks Zadee C. It shows up in Details but I forgot to mention I need to have it shown under Processes as usual. Also changing Hidden to 0 had no effect
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Mine is 1 in Hidden Dword. I guess you could change that to 0 to show up in the processes.
I think "Launch folder windows in a separate process" causes new explorer windows to open in a different process with a different PID. It has nothing to do with showing explorer under processes tab
