Why does my cpu usage go up to100%

My school laptop (dell latitude 3190) cpu usage go up to 100% sometimes in the 90s and goes down lower in a couple minutes then plunges up to a 100% and I only have google chrome open like 3 tabs running simple websites so I dont know why it goes to 100%. Please help it really slows the computer and heats it up.

    CPU usage going up to 100% can be caused by multiple things such as a failing hard drive, virus/malware, or software that utilizes the CPU so much.

    School laptops are just that, school laptops. They have very basic specifications, cause they're made for light tasks. This level of CPU usage is normal, specially when watching videos or using other resource-heavy websites/programs. You can try switching to a lighter browser, like Microsoft Edge, or getting a new device on your own.
