ASUS Touchpad stopped responding to input

I have an ASUS TUF F15 gaming laptop running WIN11. 64-bit (10.0, build 22621). Recently, the touchpad stopped working entirely.

I have checked whether disabled (on this keyboard, FN-F9).

According to Device Manager>Human Interface Devices>ASUS Precision Touchpad>Properties: I clicked "Events>View All Events" and discovered that, two days ago (2/25/23), "Device Settings Migrated." Then, "Device configured oem 146.inf" Next line "Device Started (AsusPTPDrv)." The next day (2/26), "Device Configured (oem163.inf)" and the same PTPDrv.

Clicking "View All Events" finds that, on 2/26, the Kernel-PnP gave me both a 400 error, and then a 411 error.

Turns out I'm really good at COLLECTING information, however, I have no idea what to do with this information. Updated the driver didn't do anything; neither did reverting it. That's my limit, I guess.

If you need more info, please let me know, and thank you.

Many thanks for your multiple-approach solutions! Oddly enough, when I awoke this morning and brought the laptop out of Sleep Mode, the trackpad was suddenly working again. I found it strange, as two restarts did NOT solve the problem, but a night in Sleep Mode did (note; I DID putz around a bit with the drivers, updating/reverting several times - I can't rule out this contributed to the success, though it was NOT immediate). This leads me to believe it is not a Windows error but a manufacturer/BiOS one. In the future, if it occurs again, I am likely going to reach out there.

Thank you again for your help. Cheers!

    Hi,

My name is Cindy. I am sorry you are having this problem. I know it is really frustrating. I will do my best to help you with this problem.

Please note: This is a user-to-user community forum. We are users just like you who help others. We are not employees of Microsoft.

The problem you are having is usually caused by a driver problem. The drivers of your mouse may have become corrupted. Uninstalling and reinstalling the driver will usually fix this problem.

    1. Please type the words Device Manager into the search and open the page.
    2. Scroll down the page and Mice and Other Pointing Devices for the touchpad driver if you do not see it in this folder, check the Human Interface Devices folder.
    3. You should see the drivers. Right-click on them and uninstall them.
    4. Restart the computer. Windows will automatically reinstall the drivers and fix problems.
    5. Check to see if the problem has been fixed.

    ____

If this does not fix the problem, try this next.

Type the word update in the search and open the page.

Update the computer if it is needed.

Then click on the advanced or additional updates and update if necessary.

    ___

If you continue to have a problem, go to the maker of the computer such as Dell, HP, or Lenovo, etc., and see if they have updated bios and drivers. It is free of charge and they are responsible to have these updated drivers so your computer will work with Windows. If you have a problem, their support will be able to assist you.

Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

    Cindy
