Hi Blackhillz,

I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

I suggest you do the procedure below.

1. Open Start and select "Settings > Devices > Printers and Scanners";

2. Under "Related settings", select "Print Server Properties";

3. Select the "Drivers" tab;

4. In the list of installed drivers, select the printer driver and click "Remove";

5. Select "Remove driver and driver package", and click Ok.

6. If you get a confirmation prompt to "Remove Driver Package", click "Delete".

You can clean up references from an old printer in the following places in Registry Editor:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Version-3

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-3

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-4

To open Registry Editor, press "Windows + R", type regedit and press Enter.

I recommend that you make a backup of the registry or create a restore point before making any changes.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions.

Got this message:

Failed to remove driver HP LaserJet Professional P1102w. The specified printer driver is currently in use.
Failed to remove package hp1100.inf. Access is denied.

====================================================================

The driver is already deleted from the Printers & scanner list.

So, how do I delete it?

if the computer thinks it is still running.

    I rebooted the machine and that allowed me to delete the file.

    Hi David,

    Please try Method 4 mentioned in this article.

    If you get an error, try the same in Safe mode. Start your PC in safe mode in Windows - Microsoft Support
