PID number not showing up on Task Manager

I’ve been suspecting that someone may have hacked my laptop due to a couple of reasons…and so I researched on ways to find out if my laptop has indeed been hacked and one of the ways was through the netstat -ano command. The article said to take note of the “ESTABLISHED” state and the PID alongside it so that I may cross check the PID in the task manager.

All PID’s seem to have checked out in the task manager, except for one — PID 11228. There were no results for that PID which I find suspicious, so I’d really like to know why that is and how to fix it or get rid of it?

I was able to run the command netstat -b as the internet recommended, and 11228 is nowhere to be found …I ran netstat -ano as well once again, and PID 11228 disappeared as well.

    Hi,

This seems to be more of an OS issue. We can try to fix that.

    Right-click Start>Run.

Type in msinfo32 and press enter.

Take a screenshot of the System Summary window and post it in the next reply.

Alright, you have a point and that does make me less paranoid.. It’s just that my laptop has been acting weird lately — my screen would just glitch out of nowhere and my camera would just freeze or turn off for some reason, which is weird cause my laptop is just a year old and I’ve taken care of it pretty well.

Then the same is not running, thanks. Why do you think your PC is hacked?

Hi Sumit! Thanks for your reply.

I tried this and got “ERROR: The process “11228” not found”

    Hi Rick,
I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

If you run taskkill.exe /pid 11228 what is the output?

    Keep us posted.
