    I had the same issue (memory filling up with no obvious reason) so followed A.Users advise and did a clean install in the evening and the issue looked to be resolved. However, the next day when I started using my Surface, the issue started again :(. So I took the following steps to resolve (I took other actions too which I found on other sites e.g. turn hibernation off, turn off all non-windows services etc.) but the thing the steps that actually fixed my problem were;

    1. I downloaded CCleaner (took the free pro trial, no credit card info required) and used the disk analyser (in the tools section). This showed me that loads (100+ @ almost 1GB each!) of log (.dmp) files were being created by Zoom VDI
    2. I only use a Zoom VDI plug in to optimise connection with my work VM so I uninstalled that and deleted the all log files
    3. Logged back into my work VM (which seemed to be the problem) and used the CCleaner disk analyser again to check the log files weren't being created again.

    I should have run the disk analyser as my first step as that made it easy to see where the problem actually was rather than the clean install... lesson learned for next time!

    Hi,

    I am sorry you are having this problem. I know it is really frustrating. My name is Cindy and I am an Independent Contractor.

    It is possible your storage is completely filled up and needs to be deleted.

    1. Please type the word Storage Sense in the Start and open the page.
    2. Make sure Storage Sense is clicked on.
    3. Click on the Clean up Recommendations.
    4. Then click on Advanced Options.
    5. Click on the files you will want to delete. Be careful not to delete the password and download files if they are not stored elsewhere.
    6. Then click on Remove Files.

    Keep the page on and view the Temporary Files. If it files up again, keep deleting it until it no longer files up again.

    Sincerely,

    Cindy

    If you're not filling up your hard drive on your own, then someone else is. I think I know who that someone else is, but I hope I'm wrong.

    I think you need to consider the possibility that your computer is part of a botnet. One reason why botnets are so widespread today is because they are not detected by antivirus software, and they are not detected because nothing inherently malicious is happening. Your computer is doing the kind of work that computers were made to do, but it's doing the work for someone else.

    A clean install is the only sure way to take a computer out of a botnet.
