No longer possible to change default camera in Windows 11

I am trying to change the default camera setting in Windows 11 so that the correct camera gets used for Windows Hello login (I have two Windows Hello-compatible cameras, one internal, one external).

In Windows 10 it was possible to do this through the "Devices and Printers" option in the control panel. In Windows 11, clicking on "Devices and printers" now opens the newly redesigned "Bluetooth & devices" menu, which does not give me the option to set or change the default camera.

Help please!

Thanks. I have seen the suggestion, but the "solution" that this article proposes is to disable all cameras other than the one you'd like to use, which is of course not the proper way to resolve this.

I have posted this issue through Microsoft Feedback as you have suggested.

    Hi there,

Unfortunately there is no option to set or change the default camera in this view when right-clicking on a camera. The only available options relate to sound settings, not video which is needed for Windows Hello.

I see. I did a search and found this article, it does look like there is no more function that allows you to do this in Win 11.

I think that function is important. I think this needs to get addressed by MS Engineers, you can do this by sending feedback to them using the Feedback Hub app (Windows + F shortcut).
