Using Phone Link to make calls with PC headphones & Mic

I am struggling to get Phone Link on windows 11 to utilise the headset I use for my PC as the speaker and Mic for calls made/received in Phone Link.

All my drivers are up to date, I am using Astro A50s which work for all other aspects of mic/sound (these are wired to base, 2.4ghz wireless, so not bluetooth headset) and a Samsung Galaxy S21.

Sometimes when I receive a call, the phone notes that it is using the PC for bluetooth output, and I can hear the the audio, but the mic doesnt seem to work.

Would love for this to be resolved so I dont need to change headsets everytime I want to go from Zoom call to phone call.

Thanks,

Daniel

I had exactly the same experience. It seems that the previous update to the Phone Link app has created this situation. I've raised a support call and had a technician research the problem. Apparently, it is a problem within the app and there is no official fix available. I had hoped the latest update would have addressed the issue, but it hasn't changed a thing!

Glorified phone dialer is far too succinct for me! Rubbish, is what I would call it!

Well after looking at the Microsoft phone link troubleshooting page I found this gem.

Why can't I use my Bluetooth headphones on my PC to get calls from the Phone Link app?

The Phone Link app does not currently support relaying a phone call from your Android device to a headset over Bluetooth.

Well that kind of makes the entire application mostly useless. That's unfortunate.

Same problem. Everything works fine for texts. The phone function used to work through my PC, have a USB connected Mic that used to work. Now it forces audio to my Pixel mobile phone in the phone's settings. When I tell the phone to use the PC as a speaker / audio device (similar to how you might have to divert a call to your Bluetooth headset), it immediately snaps back to the phone's default setting.

What they need is an in PC app audio setting page where you can firmly mandate which devices serve as mic and audio for the app. Like pretty much EVERY normal communication and recording app but this one. Discord is a great example of doin this right.

As it stands, the call function is nothing more than a glorified dialer for my mobile phone. What is MS thinking?!?!

Hi Greg, sorry I should have clarified, the mic on my headset works perfectly in games and on the test etc. Just using Phone Link calls, it never picks it up.
