Hi, I find it insanity that I have tried every guide out there to remove the language bars from the taskbar and none of them work. Even the official windows help guide.

Running NUC (WIN11 HOME)

Edition Windows 11 Home

Version 22H2

Installed on ‎8/‎10/‎2022

OS build 22621.1265

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22638.1000.0

I have the two options on my task bar, switching between "ENG English (Australian) US & ENG English (United Kingdom) US.

Please someone help. I have follow this guide: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/remove-unwanted-keyboard-or-language-from-windows-11-883fbe1c-fcf8-44bc-ba42-a834f486c058

Even rebooted between switching. Third party guides. Do I need to edit the registry to make Windows work properly - Very frustrating!

Not sure if this is what you want, but...

After going to Settings  > Time & language  > Typing  > Advanced keyboard settings.

Did you also click on Language Bar Options> Hidden ?

[EDIT: Forgot about this... To remove Language button from Taskbar (thought that was a given with Hidden selected)...

Tic next to - Use Desktop Language Bar When It Is Available

This will not remove the input switcher completely. While ticking "Use Desktop Language Bar When It Is Available" will (somewhat counterintuitively, together with the "Hidden" option) remove the input switcher from the regular system tray, it will make the input switcher appear in the login screen (and it looks really old and ugly).

It appears there is no option in Windows 11 yet to remove it completely (contrary to Windows 10).

Hi there! I hope you are well. My name is, Zadee. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. Sorry to hear about your experience. I'll try my best to help you today.

To me, your time is more important than even trying to troubleshoot this possible bug. First, I'd like to let you know that this is not a resolution that I am offering but info, and that I am experiencing this exact same issue and many others where the 2nd keyboard layout does not exist in the keyboard setting for you to delete, but still, the 2nd layout would show up in the system tray. I have tried the registry method as well by removing a key but the key just keeps on coming back after reboot. This is the thread where we have tried to figure it out.

You can certainly try to delete the key of the keyboard layout you want to remove, in the registry, but I think it's just going to return after a reboot. But maybe it's going to be different for you.

Otherwise, please send feedback to MS through the Feedback Hub (Windows + F). Thank you.
