AirPods Pro 2 Microphone Not Working on PC

I have my AirPods Pro 2 connected to my Windows 11 computer. I can hear audio correctly from them. However, the microphone is not working. I think this may be because my AirPods Pro 2 are labeled as "Headphones" instead of "Headset" in my task bar (see picture below.)

I have to other options to choose from though. There is no "Headset" option nor a "Handset" option. All my drivers are updated.

Below is a picture of my Sound Playback and Recording Settings.

Hello! I once faced a similar problem as yours and figured out a solution which I’m eager to share with you.

    The Problem:

I encountered an issue with my newly purchased 2nd Generation AirPods Pro (hereafter referred to as ‘AirPods’) connecting to the microphone of my Surface Laptop4.

    The Situation:

The AirPods functioned well as both input and output devices with my iPhone 13 Pro and iPad, but only worked for output audio on the laptop. Although the AirPods appeared in the Input device list in the Speaker and Microphone settings on my laptop, the test resulted in 0% Total Audio (post-resolution, it returns approximately 80%). My 1st generation AirPods Pro and my brother’s AirPods Pro connected with both valid input and output functionality.

    The Solution:

    1.	I navigated to the Device Manager, then to Audio Inputs and Outputs, and uninstalled all AirPods-related devices/properties.

    2.	I performed a hard reset on the AirPods, a process that’s straightforward and easily found via a Google search.

    3.	I reconnected the AirPods to my phone and the laptop.

By following the above steps, I managed to get the microphone of my 2nd Generation AirPods Pro to work on my PC.

I hope you find this information useful. Enjoy your day!

This is still an active problem from my perspective. While i had intermittent issues with AirPods Pro ... once I upgraded to Air Pods Pro 2 ... they have NEVER worked with TEAM. I can get them to work fine with Windows, to just watch you tube, or even to use a zoom call. But the minute I try to use them in Teams ... it Rings in my ear, to start the call ... but them something with the connection to a teams meeting is causing the problem. Most of time I lose both Speakers and Mic.

Crazy thing I just learned today. If I use Teams for the Web (NOT Teams Desktop) ... they appear to work just fine.

I really think that the Teams Mic features to block out background noise, and the Apple features to block out noise are conflicting. MICROSOFT and APPLE need to get together to solve this.

    PLEASE.

    Lowell

Hi, my name is Kelly, and I'm an independent consultant and I'm here to help.

It's possible that your AirPods Pro 2 are not being recognized as a headset because they are not properly set up to work as a microphone on your Windows 11 computer. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

Check the AirPods Pro 2 settings: Make sure that your AirPods Pro 2 are set up to work as a microphone on your Windows 11 computer. To do this, go to Settings > System > Sound > Input > Choose your input device and select your AirPods Pro 2.

Check the microphone settings: Go to Settings > System > Sound > Input > Device properties > Additional device properties. In the Microphone Properties window, go to the Levels tab and make sure that the microphone volume is turned up.

Update audio drivers: Go to Device Manager and check if there are any updates for your audio drivers. Right-click on the audio driver and select Update driver. Alternatively, you can visit the manufacturer's website to download and install the latest audio drivers for your Windows 11 computer.

Reset your AirPods Pro 2: Try resetting your AirPods Pro 2 by putting them in their case, pressing and holding the button on the back until the light flashes amber, and then repairing them with your Windows 11 computer.

If none of these steps work, you may want to contact Apple support or your computer manufacturer for further assistance.

I have now gotten the microphone to work on one of my three Windows 11 systems. Possibly updates from Intel helped.

I see you are showing the AirPods Pro version but you state you are using the AirPods Pro 2 version. The reason I am asking is because I found out that my AirPods Pro 2 are not working with the microphone but my AirPods Pro, are.

I have not yet tried a hard reset, as has been suggested previously. My indications are like the ones you show in your attachments.
