Can't connect monitor with usb 3.0

Hi

I want to connect 2 monitors to my laptop, but my type c doesn't support dp so i have an adapter to convert type c to hdmi dongle to usb 3.0 to hdmi but it shows that the port can't handle it. I was wondering if the problem is that the dongle is originally type c and the computer recognizes it as type c or if the adapter to make the type c to usb 3.0 doesn't support video?

It’s a bit complicated but usb c is usually usb 3.0, just it uses the c rather than a type connector.

The naming conventions used are really very clear.

But if the port doesn’t support display there isn’t a way to make it support it with dongles.

So there isn't a way to convert the type c to usb 3.0? or somehow make the computer think its usb 3.0?

It still won’t work even with the adaptor unfortunately as the source is still the usb c port

What i mean is that, i know it wont work on my type c port, but i have a type c to usb3.0 adapter, so the dongle is now a usb3.0 to type c to hdmi dongle, and im wondering if the type c to usb 3.0 adapter makes the dongle unuseable? Since the computer thinks im connecting a type c dongle (even though its converted to usb 3.0)

Hi, I'm Elise, and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

If the USB C port doesn’t support display port, the HDMI dongle is actually just converting DP to HDMI so that won’t work either unfortunately.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
