Win11 - Keeps changing my sleep settings

GDay All,

I normally have the following setup:

Control Panel > Power Options

  1. AMD Ryzen High Performance power plan
  2. Turn off the display = 3 minutes
  3. Put the computer to sleep = Never

Settings > Accounts > Sign-In Options

  1. “If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again” = never

However, if I allow the computer to turn off the monitors (Dual Asus Monitors) after 3 minutes of idle time, my settings will revert to:

Control Panel > Power Options:

  1. AMD Ryzen Balanced power plan

Settings > Accounts > Sign-In Options

  1. “If you've been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again” = When PC wakes from sleep

And the computer will wake up at random intervals and display the Lock Screen.

I disabled the lock screen using a registry hack, so now I get the login screen asking for the PIN number instead.

I uninstalled KB5022913 and now after the monitors turn off, the computer does not seem to wake up at random any more, but I still notice that my settings have been changed once I start using the computer again.

I also thought it may be due to allowing Auto tuning (overclocking) of the MB, so I loaded the Performance Defaults in BIOS once again, but that does not seem to have had any effect.

I have seen similar behaviour with Win10 long ago, but that resolved itself without my intervention, I assume due to a Windows update.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply Derrick.

I may be a little premature, but I believe I may have found the culprit.

It appears that the ASUS AI Suite (Dual Intelligent Processors 5) is responsible for the issues I have been encountering.

I have since removed all ASUS software including Armoury Crate and I will continue to monitor the situation.

For now at least, things appear to be as they should be, I just hope they stay that way.

I will let you know how it goes in a few days time.

It has been a few days now and I have kept a close eye on the issues I was having.

The computer no longer wakes up at random and my settings are no longer being changed.

It seems that the issue was indeed caused by the Asus AI Suite software.

I am not sorry to see it go and I have noticed a very slight decrease in boot times and the system seems to be a little more responsive, of course that may simply be my perception.

I am glad I have managed to solve the issue, it was driving me nuts before ... lol

Anyhow, thanks for your time Derrick, it was/is appreciated.

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

The power plan Settings that come with windows may not be the perfect way to change your sleep status, since your computer's sleep status depends on the underlying hardware Settings, so I recommend using AMD's official Ryzen Master to set the CPU's performance mode. Or use motherboard control software to change your computer's power mode for better compatibility.
